L’art de l’invective et de la ruse dans le genre pamphlétaire : l’exemple du journal Rivarol (2007-2021)

Résumé
L’hebdomadaire Rivarol, dont le nom fait explicitement référence à celui du penseur contre-révolutionnaire connu pour son ouvrage De l’universalité de la langue française est le doyen des journaux d’extrême droite français. Disponible en kiosque depuis 1951, il doit sa notoriété à son style réactionnaire, mais aussi et surtout, aujourd’hui plus encore, à l’antisémitisme qui lui vaut d’être dans le collimateur de la justice. L’objet de cet article est d’étudier les ressorts d’une publication qui prolonge et renouvelle le genre pamphlétaire d’extrême droite tout en veillant à échapper à la loi.
Resumen
The art of invective and linguistic dissimulation in the pamphleteering genre: the example of the newspaper Rivarol (2007-2021). The weekly Rivarol, whose name clearly refers to the counter-revolutionary thinker known for his work De l’universalité de la langue française, is the oldest french ultra-right wing newspapers. Available on newsstands since 1951, it owes its reputation to its reactionary style, but also and above all, even more today, to the anti-Semitism, the reason why the paper is in the radar of the law. The purpose of this article is to study the motives of a publication that extends and renews the extreme right-wing pamphleteering genre while ensuring to escape prosecution.
